Starting on Friday, March the 8th 2024, the Czech Gallery in Marbella hosts an unique exhibition "ON THE RUGS" by the Czech artist Roman Řehák. The visitors will be able to visit this exposition until the end of April. At the exhibition, which is being held under the patronage of Mr. Libor Sečka, the ambassador of the Czech Republic in Madrid, more than 15 unique works of art will be on display. The artist created these works exclusively in mobile phone applications and then printed and ironed into the carpet-like material. There lies the uniqueness of this art.
Most of us we use a mobile phone to make calls, write texts, take photos or scroll through the social media. The Czech artist Roman Řehák uses his mobile phone to create phenomenal works of art that decorated the homes of Oscar-winning directors such as Miloš Forman or Jiří Menzel. Examples of his works have been leading Czech personalities as Karel Gott, Marta Kubišová, Jan Saudek and Václav Havel, Hollywood actors Pierce Brosnan and Antonio Banderas, frontman of Deep Purple Ian Gillan, or the excellent American singer with Italian roots LP, whose real name is Laura Pergolizzi.
In the spring of 2021, Roman Řehák invented a new technique – he enlarged his works, which he created exclusively in mobile phone applications, to the required size and then printed and ironed them into carpets. This process of creating art is completely unique worldwide. The world premiere took place in 2022 in the Municipal House in Prague, which was attended by many leading Czech personalities and media.
Now this original art will be presented by Roman Řehák at the Czech Gallery in Marbella at Avenida Ricardo Soriano 59. Don't hesitate to contact the Gallery for more information.
